How To Get Motivated And Set Goals With These 20 Life Changing Tips

1. Visualise Your Future

Imagine that you are in your ideal future, and how that makes you feel.
For example if your dream is to mortgage quote on line a particular qualification, then picture yourself on graduation day, or if your dream is to quit smoking and get fit, then picture yourself, in shape exercising breathing easily after a long run.

2. Write down your goals

To get started, get a piece of paper and jot down what you would like to be doing in the near future.

3. Break Scooby Doo down

Break down your goals into smaller more easily achievable goals, always keeping the bigger picture in mind. That way your task won't seem Love and Rockets daunting. If you don't succeed in one of your mini-goals, you won't be so disappointed, as it is only a small part, and you can try again using a slightly different tact next time.

4. Get your hands on all the resources you can.

Talk to your family, colleagues and friends about your area of interest and see if they have any information they can give you. consolidate my student loans to the library/do an internet search/sign up for the relevant course. See what others have done before you, so that you can learn from their mistakes and save yourself lots of time.

5. De-clutter your house and head.

As they say, a tidy house is a tidy mind. Many of us forget how important it is to have a clear mind to use our time efficiently, and we all know how time is precious. So, if you are guilty of this, then now's the time to do something about it!

6. Again, get it down on paper

If you have a zillion and one things cluttering up your mind, then you need to free up that space, which will in turn create new found energy for you to use elsewhere. To get rid of it you simply need to get it down on paper and keep it in the one place.

7. Remind yourself

Print out some nice looking quotes and/or your goals in places that you come into contact regularly, to remind you of your future aspirations. These reminders will help keep you motivated until you get there.

8. Donate your time

Offer to help others where you can. Giving your time will boost your self esteem whether you need help in that area or not.

9. Pass on your new ideas and help motivate others

Take note of others around you and whether they would benefit from some help from you and what you have learned.

10. Be more positive around your children.

Even though you may be stressed out from your busy life, don't feel as if spending time with your kids is a chore. Take notice of how simply your kids see life, and try to do the same occasionally, if only for a minute!!

11. Start a support group

Ask some of your friends if they want to get together say once a month to discuss their goals with you and vice-versa. It can really help you stick to your timelines when you have someone else to report to. You can encourage and support each other in your successes and failures.

12. Just Stop!

Regularly take time out to stop and smell the roses. Even if it is simply a walk down your street or to the local shops; take notice of the bird life, and the beautiful gardens, interesting people on the way, and breathe deeply and enjoy the fresh air.

13. Read & listen to inspirational music

I know it's hard to find the time, but try to read magazines and books about the success stories of others. See where they have come from and where they have got to. If they can do it so can you. Listen to motivating music that helps get you going and makes you feel good. It's amazing what a good soundtrack can do to your performance!

14. Collect Inspiring Quotes

Start to make a collection of quotes you like, that you see in papers/books/on the internet. Print them out and read every now and again, to motivate you. One of my favourites is "Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but doesn't get you anywhere."

15. Look at your Diet

You know the old saying you are what you eat. Sounds like a clich but it is true. Think about what you are putting into your body to give you the energy you need to properly function in your life. Is it adequate/is it well balanced? If not then make some changes to do something to rectify it. I simply don't have the things that tempt me in my pantry. Therefore if I really want it, I have to make a special trip to the supermarket for it. But if it was just sitting there it would be much harder to resist the temptation.

16. Sleep tight

Don't burn the candle at both ends. It's fine to do this during certain phases of your life, but in the long term it just won't sustain you. So think seriously about how much sleep you need to function properly, and try to get it most of the time. Otherwise it will start to negatively affect you, both physically and psychologically.

17. Get out of your comfort zone and keep learning new things.

There is apparently a huge portion of our brains that doesn't get used. If you stop learning new things then these brain cells die, never to return. So it is really important to keep your mind active.

18. Remember Goal Goals

Having well meaning thoughts such as I wish I /I think / Should I, floating around your head just doesn't cut it. There are too many other thoughts competing for your attention, and unfortunately often once you have children often your personal goals tend to get shoved to the side. So you need to change your habits to prevent this from happening.

19. Get diary/planner and use it!!

Don't leave your future up to chance. A good quote sums this up well. "The weakest pen is better than the strongest memory." Anon

20. Take a deep breath

When you feel overwhelmed; just stop for a minute and take several deep breaths. And say to yourself something like - It'll be OK - I can do it, (or whatever works for you to turn your situation/attitude around.) It can do wonders.
